I grew up in a Montreal suburb near the Prairie river and became fascinated with nature and the great outdoors at an early age. After receiving my Bachelor of Education degree with a major in arts, I discovered the west coast in all it’s glory and eventually moved to Vancouver Island with my husband where I taught French for many years in elementary schools while developing my painting skills through countless workshops.
The driving force behind my art is an enduring interest in nature and its relationships with people. I make art from unique vantage points. I like to look at the world and bring a new outlook to viewers. I am mostly inspired by ideas that often develop into themes.
My work is a constant search for the best way to interpret the ideas that I have about myself and the world I live in. I do not limit myself to one medium, style, or concept. Inspiration and ideas change. Knowledge changes.
My paintings in a recent series are at the intersection of landscape and abstraction. I am interested in creating space and distance that feels like the familiar world around us but is ambiguous, and somewhat abstracted.
