Roger lives in Mill Bay and paints in both oil and acrylics, including giving lessons. He is a member of the Canadian Federation of Artists, in addition to being a Maple Bay Painter. In describing his work:

"I love the beauty of nature and all the creatures who share this planet with me and the human elements in our world. My paintings are done either plein air or in studio, where I work from personal reference photos or imagination or a combination of both. The natural world is a constantly changing tapestry; sometimes it’s a small view in a vast landscape and other times it’s the grand view that catches my attention. Old world architecture and history intrigue me. I am fascinated by the beauty of these structures that still stand after witnessing hundreds of years of passing lives. I let my imagination loose, trying to sense what life was like, for the people who built these monuments, for the many who were sheltered within or just passed through, and the opposing forces of wonder and despair of world events. Working boats are another of my focus subjects, whether at the dock or on open water. My paintings are intended to pay homage to their hard-working crews and a way of life that is passing."
